Putin orders creation of environment for fast IT development

MOSCOW, Jun 10 (PRIME) -- Russia should create environment for accelerated development and introduction of local telecoms and IT technologies, President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday at a government meeting.

“And certainly it’s necessary to create conditions for accelerated development and introduction of local technologies in the sphere of connection and IT that will serve as the basis for creation of high-quality and popular products and services,” Putin said.

Many key solutions to develop this industry are already stipulated, among others in national project Digital Economy, he said.

“I address the colleagues in the government and the regions: we should pay closest attention to the measures of demand support for products of our IT companies, and it concerns not only the internal market, mainly the internal market, but also exports. Here we should constantly work on and offer more solutions to ensure sustainable work and further progress of the industry,” the president said.

Putin also said that the pandemic restrictions have made it possible to look from a different angle on the possibilities of digitalization in many spheres, the trends that should be continued.

The president added that obsolete barriers in IT development should be demolished, while keeping in mind all aspects of cybersecurity, protection of rights and freedom of people.

“I’d like to thank the Russian telecommunications companies, industry specialists who kept flawless functioning and a high level of popular services during the higher loading,” Putin said.

The pandemic was not only a challenge for the technology and telecommunication industry, it helped the companies which offered free service to boost their client base, the president said.
